Is CoolTone® the Same as CoolSculpting®?
Happy New Year from Leslie Forrester, APRN, and the team at Wrinkle Fairy! If you want the body of your dreams this year, we can help you look and feel your best with our comprehensive line of aesthetic services.
Nonsurgical body contouring offers a safe and effective way to help you achieve your goals without the risks and long-term recovery associated with surgical procedures.
At our offices in Chicago, Oak Brook, Naperville, and Arlington Heights, Illinois, we offer two popular body contouring treatments: FDA-cleared CoolTone® and CoolSculpting®.
If you’re wondering whether these similar-sounding therapies are the same, you aren’t alone. It’s a common question our providers address. To learn the answer and to understand which one might be right for you, keep reading!
Understanding CoolTone
CoolTone is a nonsurgical treatment designed to strengthen, tone, and firm your muscles. It uses a special type of magnetic muscle stimulation technology called Active Magnetic PulseTM (AMP) to generate strong muscle contractions.
When you have a CoolTone treatment, the special device targets specific muscle groups, inducing involuntary muscle contractions that are much more powerful than anything you could achieve through regular exercise.
How CoolTone works
Imagine an intense workout condensed into a short session. CoolTone's AMP technology penetrates beneath your skin and fat layers to directly stimulate your muscle fibers. This process strengthens and tones muscles, giving you a sculpted, more defined look.
Most people get a series of four treatment sessions to begin, with monthly maintenance sessions to maintain their results. However, your Wrinkle Fairy provider gives you a recommendation that may include more or less frequent treatments, depending on your goals.
CoolTone results
The treatment is like giving your muscles a supercharged workout, and the result is enhanced muscle definition and strength. You can expect to see improved muscle tone and firmness in the treated areas quickly, with optimal results after about two weeks.
It’s important to maintain realistic expectations—CoolTone isn’t a substitute for regular exercise and a healthy diet. Results can vary based on your starting point, and CoolTone works best on patients with some existing muscle.
Understanding CoolSculpting
CoolTone focuses on muscle, but CoolSculpting is all about reducing fat. This treatment uses a science called cryolipolysis, which freezes and destroys fat cells. It's an excellent treatment choice if you want to get rid of stubborn fat that doesn't seem to budge with diet and exercise.
How CoolSculpting works
CoolSculpting targets and cools fat cells to a temperature that causes their natural death while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed. Over time, your body naturally processes and eliminates these dead cells, leading to a reduction in fat thickness.
The process isn’t painful, and it’s safe to use in many areas, including:
- Chest and sides
- Love handles or muffin top
- Double chin
- Stomach
- Armpits and inner arms
- Back and buttocks
- Legs and knees
It’s possible to treat more than one area in each session, but this depends on many factors. Your Wrinkle Fairy provider offers guidance on how many sessions you’ll need to reach your goals.
CoolSculpting results
After your CoolSculpting treatments, you can expect to see a noticeable and measurable reduction in fat in the treated areas. It takes time for your body to process the treated fat cells, so you expect optimal results a few months after treatment.
One of the best parts about CoolSculpting is that the treated fat cells are gone for good, so you can expect your results to last. However, if you gain weight, the remaining fat cells will grow bigger, creating pockets of excess fat in new areas.
For this reason, be sure to combine treatment with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
CoolTone vs. CoolSculpting: How to choose
If you're looking to reduce areas with stubborn pockets of fat, CoolSculpting might be the right choice for you. If your goal is to tone and strengthen muscles for a more fit physique, CoolTone might be a better option.
Many patients combine the two treatments, as they complement each other beautifully. CoolSculpting reduces unwanted fat, and CoolTone can help tone the underlying muscles, leading to a more sculpted and defined appearance.
Start on the path to your new body
Before deciding on either treatment, it's best to consult with an aesthetic expert, like a team member at Wrinkle Fairy. Our providers assess your specific needs, discuss your goals, and recommend the best treatment plan for you.
Since both treatments take time for results to appear, to be able to achieve the body of your dreams by spring or summer, it’s a good idea to begin treatment in winter. If you have additional aesthetic goals, we can recommend specific additional treatments to help you reach them.
